Bryan Zaragoza says there were contacts with Barcelona before Bayern

The winger, tied to Bayern until 2029, revealed there were talks with Barça despite ending up in Munich.

Bryan Zaragoza, a Bayern München winger and currently on loan at RCD Espanyol, has admitted that there was a chance to sign for FC Barcelona before moving to Germany. Asked about the Blaugrana club, the Málaga native said “there were contacts” in ‘Què t’hi Jugues’ on Cadena SER.

Zaragoza also underlined that he doesn’t regret choosing Bayern. “It was an important step for my career,” he said, describing the jump in daily life and football, including training in extreme cold and finding himself in a squad with players like Musiala, Sané, Gnabry or Coman.

His situation at Espanyol

Even while he’s with Espanyol, the Catalan club holds an €8 million buy option. It would become mandatory if Espanyol stay in LaLiga and the winger reaches at least 45 minutes in 20 league matches; he currently has four appearances, with two minutes limits already above the threshold, according to Mundo Deportivo.
