Bukayo Saka could be out for two months for Arsenal with quad injury
Saka picked up the problem vs Bayern and will have an MRI this Friday; Arsenal fear six to eight weeks.
Arsenal fear Bukayo Saka could be sidelined for between six and eight weeks after a quadriceps injury sustained in their Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, where the match ended 2-2 at the Allianz Arena. The forward was forced off in Wednesday’s draw, and the club says diagnosing it has been tricky due to fluid around the affected muscle.
Scans and cautious timeline
Saka will undergo an MRI scan on Friday afternoon to assess the extent of the damage. Early medical estimates suggest he will miss at least six weeks, though it could be longer.
“We need a few more scans and opinions from the specialists,” Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta said. He added that when a player has to walk off the pitch struggling to do so “it’s not a good sign”, and that there will be more clarity after the next tests.
Everton and Nations League in doubt
If the initial concerns are confirmed, Saka would miss Saturday’s home Premier League game against Everton. Arsenal also face the possibility of losing him for England’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain. The issue comes after a stop-start recent spell for the winger, including prior Achilles trouble and a hamstring operation that ruled him out for 101 days in the 2024-25 season, BBC Sport reports.
