Bunny Shaw earns Man City a 1-1 draw vs Real Madrid
Linda Caicedo put Real ahead and a late Cristobal goal was ruled out after an arbitral stoppage involving Beth Mead
Bunny Shaw struck to earn Manchester City a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the Women’s Champions League.
Linda Caicedo had given Real the lead in the first half, but City responded after the break. Shaw equalised with a fine finish that beat the goalkeeper, keeping the clash balanced. The hosts pressed for a winner: Yui Hasegawa fired a volley over, and Ayaka Yamashita made an excellent stop to deny Irune Dorado as both sides pushed.
A dramatic late call
With the game in the balance, in the 89th minute Silvia Cristobal appeared to clinch it for Real with a top-corner finish. However, referee Silvia Gasperotti halted play and ruled it out after Beth Mead was inadvertently blocked, sparking fury from Real’s players and coaching staff.
