CE Europa vs Sant Andreu derby to be played at Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium on Nov 14
The deal to use RCDE Stadium is agreed, but it still needs the Spanish FA’s final approval.
CE Europa has reached an agreement with Espanyol to play the Catalan derby against Sant Andreu at the RCDE Stadium on November 14, but it is still pending the Spanish FA’s final go-ahead.
That’s what Àlex López, CE Europa’s vice president, said on betevé’s ‘La Portería’. The arrangement includes an rental of the stadium, not a free handover of the facilities.
López said the pact is “closed” and that the Federation “will take little” to deliver the approval. He also expects the club to be able to announce it next week and start selling tickets. Even so, he warned he won’t treat it as fully final until the permit arrives, noting there could always be “some setback”.
The move to Cornellà-El Prat is driven by Can Dragó’s lack of capacity for a match expected to draw a large crowd from both sides, and the date fits because it’s a weekend without Primera competition and Espanyol won’t use the venue due to international team commitments.
