Ceballos reconciles with La Cartuja as Betis celebrate his return

Dani Ceballos lived a homecoming worth remembering: after nine years away, the Real Betis midfielder stepped onto the pitch at La Cartuja against Getafe, and the verdiblanco stands greeted him with a strong ovation.

As MARCA reported, just after the match—won with a goal by Abde—Ceballos focused on what mattered most. “A reunion after a long time, but the most important thing is the victory.” He also said he was happy with how people received him and that now it’s his job “to return that trust on the pitch.”

“The Betis is a giant”

In the mixed zone, the Utrera-born player underlined how different this stage feels compared to when he left. After seven years in Madrid and two in London, he returned with more maturity and a clearer idea of his role. “I left a great club, but for me now the Betis is a giant in Spain,” he said, adding that the team is growing fast and is competing with a squad that’s in an excellent run.

From the comeback to confidence

Ceballos admitted he feared the reception might include boos, even though he expected applause. “I knew there would be applause, but I had some doubts about whether there would be boos,” he said, stressing that confidence from teammates, the coach and now the fans is a big boost. His next goal is to keep building minutes and reach his best level.

In his return, MARCA also highlighted how he contributed to Betis’ control: in his La Cerámica debut he completed all his passes (20/20), helped with defensive work, and supported the long possession game needed to reduce Getafe’s comeback options. With the upcoming break, he expects to accumulate more training and move toward his best form.
