Celta lose in stoppage time as Juventus complete the comeback at Balaídos
Juventus overturned a 1-0 with goals from Woltemade and Kolo Muani (92nd) after Hugo Álvarez’s opener.
Celta Vigo were beaten at Balaídos on Thursday as Kolo Muani sealed a 1-2 in stoppage time; before that, Woltemade had levelled (1-1) after Hugo Álvarez put the hosts ahead (18th). As Mundo Deportivo notes, the setback hurts more because Giráldez’s side are now on their second Europa League loss.
The match began with caution, but the first big punch came from the Celta: Williot set up Hugo Álvarez, who finished from close range. After the break, Juventus pressed hard and, despite chances involving Jutglà and Conceiçao, the equaliser arrived on 58 minutes when Woltemade pounced on a loose ball after Marcos Alonso couldn’t control it.
The winner came on 92 minutes: Cambiaso’s cross, and Muani headed it in to turn the game. Giráldez added Aspas and Burcio in the 75th minute, but the comeback held. Referee Sander Van der Eijk officiated in front of 21,805 spectators.
