Celta without training: charter issue from Glasgow throws Giráldez off
Celta will be short of preparation after suspending Friday’s session due to a charter problem; they are expected back in Vigo around 20:30.
Celta will head into Sunday’s match against Real Betis with very little time to prepare after a problem with the charter flight that was supposed to bring the squad from Glasgow to Vigo forced the cancellation of Friday’s training session. The setback disrupts Claudio Giráldez’s plans following Thursday’s Europa League win 1-2 at Celtic Park against Celtic, where Javi Rodríguez scored twice.
Travel and schedule disruption
As Mundo Deportivo reports, the trip was due to depart in the morning and land at midday at Vigo’s Peinador airport. Instead, the aircraft issue meant the party had to return to the concentration hotel while a solution was being arranged.
The expectation is that Celta will fly back in the afternoon on a replacement plane and reach Vigo around 20:30. That means they lose Friday’s scheduled recovery session and will only be able to train on Saturday at Afouteza before hosting Betis at Balaídos.
