Celtic fall 1-2 to Celta Vigo as Javi Rodríguez sparks comeback
Celtic conceded twice in three minutes after leading; it’s their third straight Europa League loss and they still have zero points.
Celtic were beaten 1-2 by Celta Vigo in the Europa League as a quick turnaround finished off their hopes. After Mika Baur’s opener, Javi Rodríguez struck twice in the space of three minutes to send the visitors ahead.
Coming off a dominant 7-1 win over Hearts, the Hoops again struggled to carry that domestic form into Europe. Midway through the first half, Callum Osmond went down after a push from Javi Rueda, but the referee waved away the penalty appeal with the incident happening just outside the box.
A three-minute response
Baur put Celtic in front just after the break, sweeping home a deflected cross from Haissem Hassan. Liam Scales then hit the crossbar, and Celta hit back immediately: Rodríguez scored with a header and then with an unstoppable drive, per Sky Sports.
