Charlie Holt leaves Man City: signs for Cardiff City
The 17-year-old midfielder moves to Cardiff after the Premier League case: 114 of 115 financial charges (2009-2018).
Midfielder Charlie Holt is leaving Manchester City after it became known that the club will be sanctioned over 114 of 115 Premier League charges relating to financial rule breaches between 2009 and 2018. With no debut for the first team and uncertainty ahead, the 17-year-old academy talent has signed with Cardiff City.
Holt will initially join the reserve squad, which is battling to stay in the Championship. Speaking to his new club, he said: “Estoy muy contento de estar aquí. Es una gran oportunidad y un reto diferente para mí… Espero poder aportar también goles”.
The City’s situation also opens the door to further departures, as Enzo Maresca is reportedly aware some players may seek contract rescissions and leave for free, even as the club appeals the decision.
