England centre-back Chris Smalling is back in European football after his stint in Arabia, joining FC Porto as a free agent. He comes from Al-Fayha, where his contract has ended, allowing the Portuguese club to register him right away.
FC Porto’s official statement says Smalling has signed until the end of the season, with an option for an additional year. The club underlines his international experience and a career in top leagues, alongside past stops including Manchester United and Roma.
It’s a return to Europe for Smalling after his spell in Arabia following his last period on the continent.
