Christian Imga and Aymeric Laporte return as Athletic name Valencia trip squad

Athletic’s squad for their trip to Mestalla includes Christian Imga and Aymeric Laporte, with Thursday’s training clarifying the Valencia plan. The winger is back in coach Terzic’s selection after being called up against Rayo, while Laporte returns after Terzic had to withdraw him on Friday due to an indisposition.

As reported by MARCA, Laporte missed full-team sessions all week, but joined group work on Thursday after starting training with an intensity test outside the main group. When he was ruled out for the last trip, Djaló took his place following a flu-like illness during that week.

Terzic also had Berenguer available after several days of individual work. Still sidelined from group training are Nico Williams, dealing with a left-leg anterior rectus injury, and Sancet, with a calf-soleus issue.

Athletic are aiming to get Nico ready for the 25 October home clash with Getafe, and he would only be considered for the 21 October game against Levante if recovery goes “excellent” with no risk—while plans for Sancet extend further into the future.
