Christian Imga set for his Athletic debut after training ahead of Vallecas
Imga, left winger for Athletic, is in the Rayo squad picture for Saturday’s trip to Vallecas, with Djaló a doubt.
Athletic’s Vallecas trip has a standout name: Christian Imga (Athletic Club), the left winger and Spain U-18 international, has returned to first-team training and looks set for his first call-up this Saturday.
Imga is following the match plan and, this Thursday, trained with the first squad after earning his chance thanks to his spell with Spain U-18. As MARCA notes, the current shape of the squad—missing players and one key doubt—creates an opening.
Athletic will travel with confirmed absences: Nico Williams and Sancet. Djaló is the main doubt after not training regularly since his return from Guinea-Bissau duty.
The team will train at midday tomorrow at Lezama before heading to Madrid for Saturday’s game.
