Claudia Pina ruled out of Spain squad due to injury after scoring in El Clásico

The Barcelona forward leaves the Washington camp this Saturday for recovery, after picking up physical issues during Spain’s US trip.

Claudia Pina, of FC Barcelona, has been ruled out of the Spain squad due to physical problems and will leave the Washington camp this Saturday to begin her recovery, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said. The forward, who starred in Barcelona’s 7-0 win over Real Madrid at Camp Nou by scoring four of the seven goals, suffered the injury during Spain’s training camp in the United States.

Double setback in camp

The RFEF also confirmed the absence of María León (London City Lionesses) and added that both internationals “did not take part in the team’s last session” at the Audi Field, the venue for the first friendly against the United States on Saturday at 14:37 (Teledeporte). In their place, head coach Sonia Bermúdez called up Lucía García from Rayadas de Monterrey, who receives the call-up.

Barcelona forward Vicky López had already withdrawn before Spain travelled to the US, having missed the Clásico with an issue of her own.
