Claudio Giráldez (Celta) happy with win over Alavés
The Celta boss celebrates the three points but criticizes the performance: poor first half, better intensity after the system change.
Celta Vigo coach Claudio Giráldez said he was pleased with the win against Alavés and the value of taking three points, even though he wasn’t satisfied with the way the team played.
In his match assessment, Giráldez argued that the first half lacked energy and was marked by a “very bad interpretation” of the game, which left his side unable to turn superiority into points. He pointed to the second period as the turning point: “The system change” helped Javi Rodríguez and Carreira create more problems, and the team found success in key moments.
He also acknowledged the late-game strain. With the score tight, he said the opponent—“so strong in the centre and in finishing”—made it difficult, and he credited Radu for holding things together during those spells. Giráldez concluded by stressing the team showed “heart and maturity” to get through the obstacles and come away with the result.
