Claudio Giráldez: Celta lose 1-2 to Juventus at Balaídos and it stings
The Celta coach blames late mistakes: “it slips away at the end” after two Europa League games.
Claudio Giráldez, coach of Celta Vigo, was left frustrated after the Thursday loss to Juventus (1-2) at Balaídos, saying Europa League has started “cruelly” for his side. He argued that they competed well for long stretches, but the decisive blows came late: “it slipped away at the end… the other day in the 89th minute and today in the 91st.”
Giráldez said teams packed with talent punish “any mistake,” and added that “the last action” was poorly defended. Still, he insisted the team should keep the same approach, stressing that last season the same working method led them to a run of consecutive wins.
He also praised Yoel Lago, saying he is “getting more and more intelligent in game situations,” and finished by focusing on the next test in Glasgow, highlighting that there is “room for maneuver” despite leaving empty-handed so far.
