Clemente avoids surgery but will be out for almost two months

Enrique Clemente, a player for UD Las Palmas, has ultimately avoided surgery, but the medical report points to a spell of around two months out due to an external meniscus problem in his left knee. He has been carrying discomfort since the previous season, and, as the club confirmed via MARCA, he will follow a conservative treatment plan in the hope of getting back without going under the knife.

Meniscus issue, no surgery

According to MARCA, the estimated recovery timeline translates to eight to ten matches, which is why Las Palmas are now targeting mid-November as the moment he should be back in league action. It’s a key blow for a defence that was already dealing with limited options.

Options for the left-back spot

With Clemente unavailable, head coach De la Barrera has started testing alternatives. In the game against Burgos, MARCA notes that he first leaned on Loiodice at left-back, with him ahead of Andrés, despite Andrés being the more natural option for that position.

The injury also throws the door open to other routes. In that sense, MARCA says Aidan Pérez—from the academy and working regularly with the first team—has gained momentum as a possible replacement. The young centre-back sat on the bench at Cádiz and was again among the selected players versus Burgos, where he even spent several minutes doing warm-up drills.

What De la Barrera chooses next

With Clemente out until November, De la Barrera will need to decide whether to stick with Loiodice as the emergency solution, give Andrés more run, or bring Aidan into the rotation more regularly.
