Cole Palmer extends Chelsea deal to 2034 after strong start
The English forward’s improved contract keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2034, with four goals and two assists in seven games.
Cole Palmer has agreed a new contract with Chelsea through 2034, extending a previous deal that ran to 2033. The 24-year-old is now tied up for one of the longest runs in the Premier League, with only Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Chelsea team-mates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda also set for 2034, as BBC Sport reports.
Palmer’s output has driven the reward: he has been involved in six goals in seven matches, scoring four and providing two assists this season. He is also seen more and more as a dressing-room leader behind the scenes.
Ready for Bournemouth
The renewal comes after last season’s niggling groin problem, which led to him admitting he played through it even though he “probably shouldn’t have done”. That lack of availability contributed to his omission from England’s World Cup squad. Ahead of Saturday, Xabi Alonso said Palmer is expected to be available, adding that he trained over the past week and they didn’t want to rush him. Chelsea are 10th after five games, with 12 goals conceded.
