Cologne-Gladbach heated up: clubs condemn clashes and review security

Sunday’s derby between 1. FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach was overshadowed by crowd trouble. Both clubs quickly condemned the incidents and said they will carry out a thorough follow-up.

While the match atmosphere turned volatile, FC CEO Philipp Türoff defended the new safety setup and insisted the situation “was not completely out of hand,” as reported by kicker. The next step is to explain what happened and how security will be tightened for future games.
