Córdoba keep dropping points after the 89th minute: 4 losses

The blanquiverdes have lost four of six games when they conceded late goals, including VAR calls, pens and last-play drama.

Córdoba are living another tough chapter because of how they manage games in the closing stretch: they’ve now lost four of six matches in which they conceded from the 89th minute (or later).

In Elda, the script repeated itself—an error in the final moments ends up costing them the point they at least looked set to take, in line with several similar incidents earlier this season, including a VAR-checked goal in one of those games.

The pattern shows up across four different matches:

  • On the opener at Burgos, the decisive goal arrived in the 90th minute after a mistake on the offside line in a 2-2.
  • On matchday three at home versus Granada, the 89th-minute goal came after a loss in build-up from Juan Gutiérrez, with the move finishing in a run by Diallo and a finish from Jorge Pascual.
  • Córdoba have also seen matches turn when late penalties/hand incidents went against them after being close to controlling the game.
  • On Saturday the ending was even harsher: the result swung on the final play, despite eight clear chances and two goals disallowed in the first half.
