Corredera backs El Molinón boos: “They show their discomfort”

Sporting midfielder Álex Corredera backed the protests from El Molinón after the team’s 0-1 home defeat to Eldense. Speaking in a press conference, he said the supporters “know what they want,” and that the frustration shown in the past game reflects that the squad has not “given the level this club demands.”

“They let us know their discomfort and I think it’s fine,” Corredera said when asked about the latest booing. As reported by MARCA, he argued the message should be taken on board by the dressing room.

Few words, lots of work

Corredera’s message to the squad was to focus on effort rather than talk: “few words and a lot of work.” He also urged the players to “carry the weight of the shirt” and to “go for the three points” ahead of Saturday’s trip to FC Andorra (16:15).

He pointed to the attack as the key area to improve, lamenting that Sporting have only scored two goals so far and saying they need to be “much more dangerous” and “quicker” in the final third.

Solid defensively

Still, he acknowledged positive signs at the back. Sporting have conceded three goals in the first five league games, which he described as “acceptable,” even if “improvable.” He referenced the contrast between a good performance against Girona and a “strong slip-up” at El Molinón, which left the team with “hard hours” before refocusing on the next match.

As MARCA adds, Corredera said his main concern is that the team’s football “evolves” and improves week by week, not just the points. He also stressed that Sporting must “take away points that weren’t won at El Molinón.” For the trip, Manu Rodríguez is expected to be a new name in the squad after training with the group, while Guillamón, Ferrari and Gaspar remain sidelined (MARCA).
