Cristiano Ronaldo given 30-day ban and 255 euro fine by Portugal
The Portuguese FA suspends him for 30 days and fines him 255 euros after he left September’s international camp.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been hit with a 30-day suspension and a 255-euro fine from the Portuguese FA (FPF) after leaving Portugal’s international camp last month, BBC Sport reports.
The ban starts from the day of the Denmark match on 1 October, meaning he has already served 19 days and won’t miss any Portugal matches. Portugal are set to face Denmark again on 14 November, before travelling to Wales three days later.
Ronaldo exited the Nations League squad in September as an unused substitute against Norway, then learned he wouldn’t start against Denmark. In a lengthy statement, he said coach Jorge Jesus “broke his word” twice, calling it an “absolute breach of trust”. He also pointed the disciplinary panel to an earlier message where he accepted accountability and apologised to team-mates and fans.
