Cristiano Ronaldo hit with provisional suspension after Portugal disciplinary case

The FPF opened disciplinary proceedings against the 41-year-old after he walked out on the Portugal national team camp.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the 41-year-old Portugal international, has been placed under a provisional suspension after the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) opened disciplinary proceedings. The move follows Ronaldo walking out on the national team.

Ronaldo apologised to supporters on Tuesday, while also taking aim at Portugal coach Jorge Jesus. He said he would serve any suspension that is imposed on him.

The FPF, in a statement released on Saturday, said disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro after a decision by its non-professional section on October 9, 2026. For now, the case remains in the hands of the disciplinary process.
