Cristiano Ronaldo quits Portugal camp after staying on the bench vs Norway
Manu Carreño blamed Cristiano Ronaldo’s ego in a Portugal showdown that led to him leaving the squad camp.
Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to leave Portugal’s national team camp after last Sunday’s match vs Norway, where he was named on the bench and did not play a single minute. The incident, involving head coach Jorge Jesus, has been dominating sports and general media in Portugal in recent hours.
On ‘El Larguero’, Manu Carreño framed the whole affair around Ronaldo’s mindset. He praised him as “a superlative footballer… a superdotado,” but then argued he “has not been able to beat an enemy: his ego,” claiming his self-centred side always wins out.
Ronaldo backed it up directly: “He decidido abandonar la concentración de Portugal”.
