Cucurella protested Vinicius’ red: “If they touch me, send me off…”

Marc Cucurella (Real Madrid) reacted furiously in the 73rd minute after Vinícius Júnior was shown a red card in the home match vs Villarreal on Saturday at the Bernabéu. According to the match report by referee Isidro Díaz de Mera, VAR overturned Vinicius’ goal and the Brazilian was sent off for a hair pull on Saliba, described as “aggressive behavior” with protests “shouting.”

Vinicius exploded in anger and team-mates had to escort him away to prevent things from escalating. DAZN cameras also caught Cucurella making his complaint to the fourth official, telling him: “I hope… I hope that if they touch me, you’ll give me a red card. You’re going to VAR.” Chendo and Bernardo Silva were present, and Silva intervened to bring his team-mate back onto the pitch.
