David Otorbi injured on his first start for Valencia
The 19-year-old academy product tore a muscle 11 minutes into the derby against Villarreal and left Mestalla on a stretcher in tears.
David Otorbi, a 19-year-old academy player, got injured in the derby against Villarreal just 11 minutes in. He was making his first start under Aguirre and, during his first big sprint into space, he grabbed the back of his right thigh and dropped to the ground. He had to leave the pitch on a stretcher, face covered in tears, and Mestalla fell silent. According to MARCA, the winger had been the best player in his team over his last two games coming off the bench, and everything was set for him to become the main figure of the match. The crowd, however, gave him a loud ovation and chanted his name as he went off. The injury adds to the wave of absences Valencia suffered in September. Tests will confirm the extent of the damage, but a long spell out looks likely.
