David Raya shines: his 12 September save wins Premier’s best of September
The Arsenal keeper was named best save of September after a penalty stop at Sunderland on matchday four.
David Raya, Arsenal’s goalkeeper and Spain international, was chosen as the star of the Premier League’s best save of September for what happened on 12 September at Sunderland. The keeper stopped a penalty taken by Le Fee with a sharp dive to his left, denying a certain opener.
The save mattered because Raya kept the game level at 0-0 deep into the match, and it came in the second half, in the 56th minute. He prevented Sunderland from going ahead, and two minutes later Arsenal took the lead through Bruno Guimaraes. In stoppage time, Saka sealed the 0-2 result.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, in the first five league matches Raya had conceded just four goals and has been the Premier’s “Golden Gloves” winner for the past three seasons.
