Demichelis (RB Leipzig) after 4-1: Real Madrid are favorites for the double
After losing 4-1 at the Bernabéu, Demichelis says Real Madrid will fight for both LaLiga and the Champions League.
RB Leipzig coach Martín Demichelis reviewed the 4-1 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu and said José Mourinho’s side will be “one of the favorites” to win both the Champions League and LaLiga.
Demichelis felt his team matched up well in the first half and regretted conceding before the break, with Bernardo Silva scoring the 1-0. “I’m not very happy because again we lost and conceded four goals,” he said, adding that Real controlled the second half better.
He also praised Thibaut Courtois for key stops, including twice against Rômulo and Nkunku, and highlighted Arda Güler: “That doesn’t surprise me.” On Yan Diomande, he argued his next steps depend on “his head and his technical ability.”
Looking ahead, Demichelis stressed the Leipzig need to regain defensive solidity quickly and return to the pitch in “two and a half days” without rotating all eleven, with the aim of taking “three points at home” next weekend.
