Edin Terzic: Athletic need wins after Levante blow-up
The German coach must turn things around fast, with back-to-back home games vs Getafe and Real Sociedad.
Edin Terzic arrives under pressure at Athletic Club after a defeat at Levante that keeps the team stuck in a run of four matches without a win. The numbers compared with Eduardo Berizzo raise the heat: Athletic have 9 points, just one more than at the same stage under Berizzo.
A must-react moment
As MARCA notes, Terzic’s league record so far is two wins (Celta and Atlético), three draws (Elche, Alavés and Valencia) and three losses (Sevilla, Barcelona and Levante). Berizzo’s opening stretch looked different: he beat Leganés, lost to Villarreal and Real Sociedad, and drew with Huesca, Betis, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Eibar.
Terzic insists the team needs immediate results to avoid being questioned. “For us to win we need more energy. The first half against Levante condemned us; you can’t start like that in a match,” he said.
Getafe and Real Sociedad at home
Before the November FIFA break, Athletic’s route is made up of key rivals: Getafe and Real Sociedad are next in consecutive home fixtures. They also hold the cushion of the postponed game vs Rayo. Athletic sit two points above the relegation zone and are five off the European places.
