Edin Terzic complains about the 28-day break as Athletic host Alavés

The Athletic boss says his side haven’t played for 28 days and they return today vs Alavés at San Mamés.

Edin Terzic, Athletic Club’s coach, admitted he’s unhappy with the long stop: the team haven’t competed since September 19 and return today at San Mamés against Alavés, after their trip to Vallecas on Saturday ended in just 13 minutes before the match was suspended.

Terzic said they’ve been almost four weeks without playing—“28 days”—and listed the knock-on effects: three fixtures were reprogrammed (Barça, Levante and Rayo), plus the club made two trips without kicking a ball. He also asked for understanding and declined to judge what happened away from home, stressing there was no violence and no injuries.

After the break, quick turn

That same night, Athletic’s game at Mestalla is threatened by weather: there is a yellow warning from 21:00. Terzic said he checks the forecast from time to time, asked to be informed early if a suspension is coming, and previewed Valencia under new coach Javier Aguirre, highlighting his flexibility and experience.
