Efe Akman explains why Andorra are more confident after beating Granada
The midfielder says the Granada win lifted their confidence after a losing run and points to a tougher test vs Castellón.
Efe Akman, a FC Andorra player, described the shift he’s seen in recent matchweeks after a run of defeats. The midfielder says the turning point was the win over Granada, which helped the side regain its confidence: "When you lose several matches in a row, confidence drops and you get a bit nervous. When you concede, you think you’re going to lose again. But we won and confidence went up. Now we have much more confidence".
He also credits the change for forcing Andorra to step out of their usual pattern. "Normally we have more possession than the opponent, but in these two matches we had to run a lot chasing the ball and I think we did it well," Akman said. He believes the team is "more intense and more competitive" and sums up the approach with: "Football is not only about attacking; you also have to defend and compete well".
On his own situation, in his second season in the Principality he says he feels "very comfortable" and ready to operate as either a '6' or an '8'. Next up is Castellón, and Akman expects an open game: "It’s a very good team, with players of a lot of quality, but we’re also a very good team"—so he anticipates "a more open match, with more chances for both".
