Eibar opens new training complex ‘Joya de la Corona’

Eibar has opened its new training complex, named ‘Joya de la Corona’, in a ceremony that brought together Imanol Pradales, Javier Tebas, Rafael Louzán and Beatriz Álvarez, as reported by MARCA. With this debut, the Basque club completes an important milestone: for the first time in its 84-year history it has its own top-level facilities.

The project costs more than €30m and spans 11 hectares. Inside, Eibar has built five pitches (two natural grass and three artificial) and a dedicated building for the first team’s high-performance program, aiming to centralize day-to-day work.

Years in the making

MARCA notes the club has been shaping this plan for almost a decade, starting with the board, to create a shared space adapted to today’s football demands. Until now, the organization’s training and development activities were spread across sites such as Atxabalpe, Unbe and Anexo, along with older areas including Txantxa Zelai, Lerun and Agorrosin.

The inauguration included a ribbon-cutting and a guided tour for guests. After the protocol, club figure Gorostiza focused the message on identity and continuity: he stressed that the club isn’t just opening a venue, but the place where Eibar “forms itself”, from early training to the final session before matches at any level.

A broader message

Tebas also used the event to highlight Eibar’s model over time. As MARCA puts it, in an era marked by financial trouble, the club was among the few—together with Numancia—that kept economic discipline and avoided the path that pushes teams down the divisions. With Areitio now live, the big question is how quickly these facilities translate into improved preparation and player development.
