Eibar win seventh straight to reclaim top spot in Segunda
After beating Albacete, Jokin Aranbarri’s Eibar have 21 points from 24 and deliver the second-best start in their Segunda history.
Eibar under Jokin Aranbarri are back on top of Segunda after a draw involving Castellón and a win by Ceuta, with the Basques sealing a seventh straight victory at Albacete. The run leaves them with 21 points from 24 so far, a start only bettered in the league’s history by Elche 2012-2013 (22 points), according to MARCA.
The team has taken everything since losing to Tenerife on matchday one. In just a handful of games it has also become the highest-scoring side in the division, while keeping the defensive approach that transformed their table position last season.
Still, the club urges restraint. The last time Eibar were first was 1,245 days ago, in matchday 38 of 2022-2023, when they missed out on direct promotion and were knocked out by Alavés in the playoffs.
