Elche down to 10 men: Redondo red card in the 6th minute

Federico Redondo was involved in an early turning point at the RCDE Stadium: the Argentine-Hispanic defender was sent off after a VAR check in the 6th minute for taking down Bryan Zaragoza as last man, according to MARCA.

The incident came after a sequence that Redondo didn’t manage well from the start. He received a pass from Chust that was not ideal, but then made it worse with a poor pass back to his goalkeeper. Sensing the ball was going to be short, he moved to stop Zaragoza from breaking through into a one-on-one.

VAR overturns it

Initially, the referee did not brandish any card. But the VAR called him to review the tackle. After checking at the monitor, Jon Ander González showed a straight red to Redondo.
