Enzo Maresca keeps things light: Man City face Anfield amid sanction threat

Manchester City head to Anfield this Sunday at 17:30 under the shadow of sanctions, and Enzo Maresca tried to keep the mood positive on Friday. In a short quarter-hour press conference, most of the questions focused on the fact the club has recently been found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

Friday’s message

Maresca played down the impact of the possible penalties while awaiting the outcome of an appeal: «They have fun training, they go home happy, and they’re top of the league (after 5 wins in 5 matches).»

On the pitch, City’s form is providing cover: it has 5 victories from 5 matches as it prepares for a high-intensity Liverpool vs Manchester City, with the pressure also coming from the ongoing legal process, according to L’Équipe.
