Enzo Maresca urges Man City to stay focused after £830m charges
Maresca addressed players after the Premier League guilty verdict tied to alleged “sham” deals worth over £830m.
Enzo Maresca, Manchester City head coach, told his squad to stay calm and positive after the club was found guilty over the Premier League’s 115 charges. The message came as international players returned to training on Thursday, nine days after the league published its report.
The case, as BBC Sport reported this week, centers on alleged “sham” contracts used to disguise secret funding of more than £830m. Maresca’s request was that the turmoil around the verdict does not derail the team’s focus as the campaign restarts this weekend.
Erling Haaland echoed him ahead of Sunday’s trip to Liverpool, saying he cares deeply about the club and the fans. He called for unity, positivity and smiling “no matter what happens,” insisting City should stick together and enjoy the ride while they try to win games.
