Eric García injured in Istanbul after Leão tussle with Barca
The Barca full-back finished bruised from a Leão clash; he could be available for Betis this Saturday if Flick doesn’t rest him.
Eric García, of FC Barcelona, finished the match at the Ali Sami Yen “touched” after a challenge from Rafael Leão. In his duel with the Galatasaray winger, the defender ended with a wound and swelling below his right knee, needing ice to bring the inflammation down.
Despite taking an early hit, Leão still caused problems with pace and was involved in the 1-0 moment: in the 28th minute he played into the play that led to Batrakov’s goal.
Speaking in the mixed zone, Eric played it down: “It’s a little present I take from Turkey”. He also clarified it was “a blow in a play with Leão”. Per his comments, unless Hansi Flick prefers to manage his workload for next Tuesday’s trip to PSG at the Parc des Princes, Eric should be available for Betis this Saturday at La Cartuja (18:30).
