Erik Lira and Valencia: agent meets in Paterna

Erik Lira (Cruz Azul), 26-year-old defensive midfielder, is back on Valencia’s radar after his agent, Tarek Sebiat, held talks at Paterna’s training ground with sporting director Braulio Vázquez.

After leaving the facilities, Sebiat was asked about the player’s future and replied briefly: “Good player. No comment”. The meeting comes right after Javier Aguirre was asked about Lira during his unveiling press conference; the Mexican coach sidestepped specifics but made his feelings clear: “Es amigo mío y es un jugador sensacional”.

Lira is contracted to Cruz Azul until June 2029 and is valued at around €14m per Transfermarkt. This past summer, Monaco was willing to pay €12m, but the deal didn’t happen due to a lack of extra non-EU registration slots.
