Espanyol draw 1-1 with Málaga after squandering chances
Espanyol took the lead through Bryan Zaragoza, but conceded late and settled for a 1-1 draw with Málaga at La Rosaleda.
Espanyol let a win slip against Málaga, finishing with a 1-1 draw after conceding in the closing moments. At La Rosaleda, Manolo González’s side went ahead thanks to Bryan Zaragoza, yet failed to put the game to bed.
In the first half, Roberto Fernández had two chances to extend the lead, but Alfonso and the Málaga back line stopped him. In the second period, Málaga pushed harder and created more opportunities, and the comeback arrived in the final play: Adrián Niño levelled with a shot from the top of the box.
The point doesn’t satisfy Espanyol, who were looking to snap a run of poor results. Next matchday, they face Atlético de Madrid.
