Ezri Konsa (Arsenal) bullish on Champions League as Bayern looms

Ezri Konsa, Arsenal’s centre-back, is confident ahead of the Champions League clash: on Wednesday they travel to the Allianz Arena to face Bayern München. He arrives after a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, where he shut down Liam Delap late on with a covering run and a perfectly timed tackle.

The victory keeps Arsenal on 10 wins in 11 matches and adds yet another clean sheet. Konsa believes these are exactly the games that decide titles: “If you want to win titles, you have to come away to tough places like this and get three points.”

He also tied the moment to his Arsenal roots and quick integration. When asked about being a boyhood supporter, Konsa said: “And, yes, I was. I had a lot of Arsenal kits when I was younger… to be here… with close friends makes it even more special.” He pointed to the help from teammates such as Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

Against Bayern, his focus is on Harry Kane, noting the connection as international team-mates and highlighting Kane’s output for the club: 155 goals in 157 appearances. Konsa added that he is relishing the challenge and expects a step up in Europe, with his target spelled out: “We want to win everything – the Champions League, the Prem, whatever trophies are in front of us.”
