FC Andorra suffer fifth straight loss vs Sporting (1-3)

FC Andorra are still struggling in LaLiga Hypermotion. This Saturday they were beaten at Encamp by Real Sporting de Gijón (1-3), extending to a fifth consecutive defeat, even though they managed to respond after the break, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Sporting struck early

The match began with intent from the hosts, who had the first chance from a corner. But the visitors quickly made their mark: from a corner, Corredera delivered and Duñabeitia rose to head in the opening goal, making it 0-1 in the sixth minute.

Andorra held more of the ball after that, though they were unable to create clear-cut opportunities against a Sporting side that defended deep and without the ball. Before halftime, Alende even appealed for a penalty after being struck during a set-piece action, but the scoreboard did not change.

Jordi Cano brought them level

In the second half, Carles Manso made changes. Jordi Cano came on for Hugo López and the impact was immediate: in the 48th minute, Cano reacted to a poor clearance, collected the ball and finished under Yáñez to restore parity (1-1).

That equaliser gave the home side momentum, with more pressure and set-piece chances. Yet Sporting found the decisive blow again: Owono denied Guille Rosas with help from the post, and shortly after Otero advanced down the right to set up Antonio Casas, who made it 1-2 in the 65th minute.

Andorra pushed for an equaliser until the end, with Diego Díaz and Moró Sidibé introduced. They had chances late on, and even Owono ventured forward into the box. Still, the game ended with punishment in stoppage time: the Sporting recovered possession and Iosifov scored into an empty net in the 90+6th minute. As Mundo Deportivo reports, it’s another fifth straight loss for Andorra, which continues to fall.
