Fede Redondo scores in LaLiga almost 30 years after his father
The Elche midfielder-turned-defender scored a penalty at Vallecas against Rayo, 10,868 days after the last Redondo goal in Spain's top flight.
Fede Redondo gave Elche the lead in the 24th minute of their trip to Vallecas, from the spot after Lejeune fouled Revivo. He sent the ball to Audero's left, with height and power, and the keeper could not reach it.
The last goal by a Redondo in the top flight came on 21 January 1997, when Fernando Carlos, Fede's father, scored in a 4-0 win over Celta at the Santiago Bernabéu under Fabio Capello. According to MARCA, 10,868 days have passed since then.
Fede, 23, has become a regular under Anselmi in his second season at Elche. He had scored only once before for the club, in the Copa del Rey against Los Garres in 2025-26. His father spent six seasons at Real Madrid and scored six league goals.
