FIFA ‘virus’ leaves 16 of 22 Segunda sides short on players
From September into October 7, up to 34 players miss at least one game due to international call-ups.
The FIFA “virus” hits Segunda again: up to 34 players are set to miss at least one match in LaLiga Hypermotion due to international duty, affecting 16 of the 22 clubs (nearly 73%). As MARCA reports, the September-October break often runs until October 7.
In this context, Girona is the most affected side. The club already lost six players in the last matchday and will face more absences for Sunday’s game against Mallorca, which also has three internationals out. The impact was visible in Jornada 7 too, when Mallorca-Almería was played with five absences between both teams.
Mallorca coach Luis García commented on the calendar clash: “confío mucho en que ha caído de esa manera y no lo podemos elegir... no pensemos mal”.
