Recent form, heavier scrutiny
Sky Sports points out that this lift comes after the noise surrounding the £116m signing, particularly following Liverpool’s 3-0 loss at Anfield to Manchester City. Former Reds captain Jamie Carragher even suggested Wirtz should be dropped, saying, "I'm just sorry to say this Florian Wirtz signing it's not working..." and adding that Liverpool need more from him.
Three big home tests
Now Andoni Iraola wants his No 10 to keep influencing games. Liverpool face a trio of crucial home fixtures at Anfield, starting with the visit of Brighton on Sunday, when kick-off is at 2pm.
