Fran González ruled out of debut: Sevilla vs Aston Villa
The Trofeo Antonio Puerta duel comes too soon for the Real Madrid summer signing as an injury keeps him out.
Fran González, the Sevilla goalkeeper, will not make his debut against Aston Villa due to a leg injury ahead of the Trofeo Antonio Puerta. The young keeper arrived this summer from Real Madrid and is still yet to play in LaLiga, with Odysseas Vlachodimos starting every minute in the first seven league matchdays.
The match on Friday, vs Unai Emery’s side, looked like the right moment for Fran González to introduce himself to the home crowd. But after being called up for the under-21s—where he played the first game of the international break against Finland—he returned to Sevilla with physical discomfort.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, Sevilla’s medical staff have assessed him and he is not fully ruled out, but he is not training normally and he left the gym early this Wednesday, as did Lucas Stassin.
