Francesco Farioli rues Porto’s 3-2 loss to Betis at La Cartuja
The FC Porto coach said that after going 1-2 up they had two or three great chances to finish it, and now they turn to PSV.
Francesco Farioli, coach of FC Porto, was highly critical after the 3-2 defeat to Real Betis at La Cartuja. The manager pointed to what happened after 1-2, saying they had “two or three actions with Alberto to close the match”, with “very good chances” to score.
He admitted frustration with how the game played out: “It’s been a crazy match; we could have scored two or three more until the end, but I think we deserved more.” Farioli also felt their build-up worked for stretches, especially when Alan Varela helped them create opportunities, but that they rushed things in the final third.
“To be clear, this is the Champions League: if we make mistakes, we pay twice,” he added. With Porto still without points after their first two European matches, he urged a reset: “No negativity— we have to prepare for the game against PSV.”
