Fredi Álvarez complains about refereeing at Balaídos vs Tenerife

Fredi Álvarez, head coach of Celta Fortuna, expressed clear frustration with referee Gonzalo Romero’s performance during the match against CD Tenerife at Balaídos.

“In my situation it’s not worth talking about the referee… if I speak I’ll probably be sanctioned, so I prefer not to talk. I don’t know if they respect us the same way as the rest of the teams, I don’t know. It doesn’t make sense to speak because I leave this press conference penalised,” Álvarez said.

He noted Tenerife started better, “for the first ten minutes”, but without creating “goal-scoring actions”. After that, he argued Celta Fortuna delivered “an excellent first half” and the game “should have been decided” in the opening period, beyond the goal. Álvarez also pointed to “a serious youth error” as the turning point that punished his side in the goal that levelled the match. He added that the team has grown since their previous meeting with Tenerife: “In one year we’ve grown a lot… and I think we were better.” Source: Mundo Deportivo.
