Friedkin Group explores full Everton sale under new chapter
The American owners are considering selling a controlling stake after the new stadium stage was opened last year.
The Everton ownership could be up for grabs: the Friedkin Group is exploring the sale of the club less than two years after taking control. BBC Sport reports that the American group completed the takeover in 2024, in a deal believed to be worth over £400m.
In its statement, TFG says that after prioritising stability, investment and the opening of Everton’s new stadium last year, the time is right “to consider the next chapter”. The group adds that it is looking at “new investment options” for Everton, including the potential sale of a controlling interest.
TFG also points out that when it became custodians of the club, Everton faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges on and off the pitch, with the immediate goal to secure the future and help bring the long-promised stadium to completion.
