Galatasaray win 2-4 vs Lille to finally kick off their Champions
The Turkish side overcame an early scare and finished 2-4 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with Lille still seeking points.
Galatasaray finally got their first win in the Champions League by beating Lille 2-4 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in a game where both teams had started the competition with zero points after two rounds. The match began fast for the visitors: Akgun scored on their first shot after a run down the left from Yilmaz.
Lille replied quickly. Diaoune made it 1-1 seven minutes in, finishing after Alexsandro broke forward and fed him into the space. At the 27-minute mark, Rade Obrenovič pointed to the spot for a foul by Lille’s goalkeeper on Oshimen, but VAR reviewed it and overturned the decision. Before halftime, Diaoune found the net again (39’) and Batrakov equalised with a header (44’).
In the second half, Torreira put Galatasaray back in front with a first-post header from a corner (52’), and Osimhen sealed the 2-4 in the 61st minute after a break led by Batrakov. Lille’s third defeat in three games leaves them needing a win against Bodø/Glimt, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, to keep their qualification hopes alive.
