García Plaza fumes after Bernabéu loss: “Eleven against ten”
Sevilla’s coach complains about VAR and claims the game should have been played with 11 vs 10 from the 25th minute.
Julián García Plaza left very angry after Sevilla’s defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid. The coach pointed to the moment that, in his view, tilted everything: “We have to play eleven against ten from the 25th minute.”
In his press conference he returned to the VAR decision, saying he didn’t understand why they weren’t warned: “Why didn’t they warn us from VAR? I don’t know. Maybe because they would go into the Clasico nine points ahead if we won.” He also argued the incident was clear, calling it “very clear and, in addition, an aggression,” and said that with the score at 0-0 the game had to be played “65 minutes, eleven against ten.”
He was also asked about the start for Rubén Vargas. “We expected him to play 45 minutes; we knew he would be very tight in the first half,” García Plaza said, adding that “he’s still not 100%.”
