Georginio Rutter powers Brighton to 4-0 win: brace and assist
Brighton thrashed Kauno Zalgiris 4-0 in the Conference League and went top thanks to Rutter’s big day.
Brighton kick off at the top
Georginio Rutter delivered a statement start for Brighton in the Conference League, netting two goals and setting up one in a 4-0 win over Kauno Zalgiris. Fabian Hurzeler’s side were dominant from the first whistle to the last and moved top in the standings.
The opener required a VAR check: the ball looked to be out of play after Ibrahim Osman’s cut-back, but the goal was confirmed after the review.
Rutter then acted as the creator as Brighton doubled just before half-time, with Jack Hinshelwood slotting home in the corner.
The third came from Malick Yalcouye’s explosive run; Osman played the pass into the box for Rutter to finish easily.
Matt O’Riley made it four with a header, his first Brighton goal since August.
